Publisher's Summary

At the festival of Osiris, loyal subjects of the pharaoh gather to pay homage to their leader. Only Taita, a wise and formidably gifted enunch slave, sees him as a symbol of the kingdom's fading glory. Danger surounds all those who oppose the ruling elite. But together with his protégés, Lostris, the beautiful 14-year-old daughter of his master Lord Intef, and the proud young army officer Tanus, Taita begins the long and dangerous journey towards his own glorious dream: to restore the majesty of the Pharaoh of Pharaohs on the glittering banks of the nile.

great story - shame about the abridged version

What does Robert Powell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

His voices were fantastic and brought the characters out beautifully

Any additional comments?

I loved the book but felt really let down by what was cut out in this abridged version. I bought this without realising that it was abridged so my fault I guess.

Story has been butchered by cutting out too much.

The narration is good. Thats as good overall as I can give. Very disapointed in how much of the original story was cut as it destroyed the complete picture. The two Wilbur Smith books I have read have both reveived the same bad treatment as only half the story left.
