Good story but spoiled somewhat by lacking any historical accuracy
I found it a bit odd and annoying that the author pays no or little regard to the historical record - particularly as the records we have leave lots of gaps and therefore leave room for a story teller to get creative. For example, Marius didn’t have a legion with him to defend Rome and had a son. Roman society norms aren’t that well adhered to, either. Simon Scarrow’s novels are far better in that they don’t unnecessarily diverge from the historical record (such as it is) even though his protagonists are fictitious.

A story of Julius Caesar’s youth.
I liked this book immensely. I am a huge fan of the author, Conn Iggulden. The story gets better and better,
For anyone who is a fan of ancient history, this man makes it come alive. All the characters are believable. I laughed, I cried, I was in awe of Rome.
The narrator, Robert Glenister takes on each character with with skill.
