One girl's tragic story, amazing writer & reader
Rina Walker's life is anything but happy. What she has survived has made her the strong woman she is today. And what she has survived is really quite dreadful.
Told in the First Person Present as it happens, the setting swings from 1956 to the 70's between chapters in a manner that keeps everything neatly able to be followed.
What is told of some of these dreadful events are done so without emotion, without salacious detail and as almost matter of fact.
The characters are strong, the dialogue consistent and the story quite compelling.
The narrator's voice is ideal for this story - very listenable and she is composed and controlled but the reading flows naturally.
Not a light hearted book, and no happy endings. But well written and I will gladly purchase the next one to find out what Rina does next.
brave lady shares her life<br />
this is a great book read by the author which i always consider a bonus
She is very frank about her life and fhe failures and successes she has experienced both personally and professionally. i wanted to pick her up.and hold her...
So worth listening to
no wonder they made a series
this is a terrific, enthralling adventure. The characters are very real, the science excellent and the action breathtaking.
the narrator enhances this story very much.
Great book by a Beloved author
This story has it all: danger, adventure, action, pathos and humour.
Terry Pratchett at his best.
The narrator is terrific and very, very listenable (I think that is word)
Definitely one to listen to over and over again
much better than I expected.
this does not have a great reputation among B7 fans but i found it very enjoyable. Vila was fun, Avon arrogant but resourceful, tarrant a bully, dayna caring and soolin efficient. servalan was as vicious as ever. the extras were very good too.
