Liane Moriarty is a best-selling Australian author. Moriarty’s popular novels include Three Wishes (2004), The Last Anniversary (2006), What Alice Forgot (2010), The Hypnotists Love Story (2011), The Husband’s Secret (2013), Big Little Lies (2014), and Truly Madly Guilty (2016).

While Moriarty has written variously since childhood – first crafting a story entitled 'The Mystery of Dead Man’s Island' for her father, and then in her advertising and marketing career – it wasn’t until later that Moriarty pursued life as an author.

Motivated by the ‘fever of sibling rivalry’ she felt upon hearing that her younger sister Jaclyn was to publish a novel, Moriarty decided to try her hand at writing novels too. She enrolled in a postgraduate degree at Macquarie University and it was during her time here that Moriarty wrote her first novel, Three Wishes. Since that time Moriarty’s writing career has gone from strength to strength with her books translated into thirty nine languages and selling millions of copies around the world.

Moriarty’s 2014 novel Big Little Lies debuted at number one on the New York Times best sellers list, and its success caught the attention of Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon who approached Moriarty to secure film and television rights to the story. The Big Little Lies television series (2017) stars Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, and Adam Scott. Listen to the Big Little Lies audiobook, narrated by Caroline Lee.

Liane Moriarty was born November 1966 in Sydney, Australia. She lives in Sydney with her husband and children.
It’s not just Big Little Lies attracting attention from the film and television industry – film rights have also been acquired for What Alice Forgot, the gripping story of a woman who suffers an injury at the gym and comes to having lost her memory of the last decade; and The Husband’s Secret, about a letter from a husband to his wife, a letter containing a deep dark secret, a letter she wasn’t meant to see (yet).
