Alain de Botton is the essayist and author whose popular books have been best-sellers in 30 countries. His first book, Essays in Love, was published in 1993, when he was 23. It has sold two million copies worldwide. The long-awaited sequel to Essays in Love is The Course of Love, published to glowing reviews in 2016.

The School of Life offers education on developing emotional intelligence and holds regular classes and workshops. Alain de Botton was born 20 December 1969 in Switzerland. He lives in London with his family.
