Lee Child is an internationally best-selling British novelist who writes mysteries, thrillers, and crime fiction – he is best known for his Jack Reacher series of books.

Child’s first novel Killing Floor was published in 1997. Killing Floor is the first book in the Jack Reacher series. The series feature Jack Reacher, a former military policeman, as he travels around the United States investigating suspicious and treacherous situations. We meet Reacher as he arrives in Margrave, Georgia. His timing couldn’t be worse – the small town has had its first homicide in three decades, and Jack Reacher is the only stranger in town. In addition to his full length Jack Reacher books, Child has also written more than three dozen short stories, including Small Wars, High Heat, Deep Down, Second Son, and Not a Drill.

Before turning his hand to writing, Child spent eighteen years working at Granada Television in Manchester. Child began writing books after he lost his job in 1995 due to corporate restructuring.

Lee Child is the pen name of James (Jim) Grant who was born in Coventry, England on 29 October 1954. He has homes in Manhattan, England, and the south of France – he is married and has an adult daughter.
